Recommended for sanitizing your workspace:
70% Isopropyl Alcohol
Mist Spray Bottle (to pour the Isopropyl Alcohol in and spray on surface)
A pan with water in it to use as a double boiler
The Method
Prior to formulating, ensure that all your packaging, equipment and workspace is clean and sanitized. Put on nitrile gloves and cover your hair.
Instructions
Prepare the pan with 2.5-5cm water and place in the stove. This will be the double boiler used to heat and melt the ingredients
Combine all the ingredients under the heat phase, in a heat-safe container
Transfer the container to the stove, and melt the ingredients gently on medium to low heat, using the double boiler method. Continuously stir the oil phase mixture to help melt them quicker
Heat the ingredients up to 70°C or until they’re fully melted. Take care not to scotch the ingredients
Remove the container with the melted ingredients from the heat and allow it to cool down for at least five minutes. This ensures there is no temperature shock on the container when you refrigerate the mixture
Put the mixture in the freezer for up to 20 minutes (depending on the size of your batch) until the mixture turns opaque and becomes a semi solid
Remove the mixture from the freezer, add in the cooldown phase ingredients
Using a hand mixer, start to whip the mixture for two to three minutes until it changes texture and becomes fluffy. Scrape the sides in between the whipping to ensure the entire product is whipped evenly
Put the mixture back in the freezer for five minutes. And retrieve it and whip it again for two minutes
Repeat this freeze and whip process three more times until the body butter is light and airy
Scoop or pipe the product into your sterilised body butter jars using a nozzle and piping bags
The body butter is complete. Label and store, and enjoy your product
Usage
A body butter is meant to be used immediately after a bath or shower while the skin is still warm from the steam, when it can melt into your skin and immediately sink in, locking in moisture. This will keep your skin soft and support all day long. Also apply any time as needed for a moisture boost.
Use day and night
