Materials
Glass Beaker to measure your ingredients in (+1 50ml for to mix Phase A ingredients in)
Silicone Spatula

Recommended for sanitizing your workspace:
70% Isopropyl Alcohol
Mist Spray Bottle
(to pour the Isopropyl Alcohol in and spray on surface)
The Method
Prior to formulating, ensure that all your packaging, equipment and workspace is clean and sanitized. Put on nitrile gloves and cover your hair.
Instructions
PHASE A

Begin by hydrating the Sepimax Zen in the Glycol Glycerine. This method speeds up the gelling process compared to sprinkling the powder directly into the water phase. Mix well, and set the mixture aside to proceed to the next phase.
PHASE B:

Dissolve the powders in the Distilled Water. stir until both powders have completely dissolved.

Combine the Phase A mixture with the water mixture. Stir to fully combine the ingredients. The mixture may have a few Sepimax Zen bits, that is fine. They will dissolve over time.

Pour in the Phase B2 ingredients and follow with the Phase B3 ingredients. Stir to evenly infuse the ingredients.

Check the pH of the product using a test strip. The ideal pH range is 5.5–6.0. Adjust if necessary.

Cover the mixture with Foil and allow it to fully hydrate. Generally overnight is recommended for it to reach its full its final smooth, fluid consistency. The next day, package into standard bottles to use for your sheet masks
Formulating Notes
• You can adjust the amount of the Sepimax Zen, should you want for a thicker essence. 0.5-1% 2% will give you a serum-like texture. Adjust the Distilled Water as needed to keep the formula at 100%
• You may sub the Sepimax Zen for Xhantan Gum Clear. Try starting at 0.2% as Xhantan Gum creates thicker gels
• The Essence is also versatile, you can formulate it as a serum, or create a thinner version with no Sepimax Zen to make a Hydrating Mist or Toner
• We formulate this Essence to lean on the thicker side for it to stay on the skin longer
• Play around various types of Hydrosols. Each provide additional benefits to the Essence, as well as different natural scents.
• You may use liquid Panthenol instead of powdered Panthenol. Recommended 4% as the powder is more concentrated. Adjust the Distilled Water.
• You may use Propanediol 1.3 entirely, leaving out the Glycol. We add it in for its skin penetrating benefits.
• Do not sub out the Propanediol with Glycerine. This will result in a sticky Essence.
• Maintain the pH of the Essence between 5.5-6 for skin compatibility and ingredient stability.
Usage

Begin with a clean face. Gently cleanse your skin to remove any makeup, dirt, or impurities. Allow your skin to airdry while you prep the mask

In a bowl, dispense a sufficient amount of the collagen mask essence onto a sheet mask, ensure to cover it fully with the Essence liquid.

Take the prepared sheet mask and unfold it carefully. Place the mask onto your face, aligning the holes with your eyes, nose, and mouth.

Using the Facial Roller, apply gentle upward strokes on the mask, massaging the essence evenly across your face and neck, avoiding the eye area.

Leave the sheet mask on for 15-20 minutes to allow the collagen essence to infuse deeply into your skin. Use this time to relax, unwind or take a bath or shower

After the recommended time, gently peel off the mask and discard it

Use the Gua Sha to massage any remaining essence into your skin, allowing it to fully absorb

Follow up with your regular skincare routine, including Facial Oil (see one from our previous recipe formulations), for enhanced hydration.

For optimal results, use the collagen mask essence in conjunction with sheet masks 2-3 times a week, or as needed for an extra boost of hydration and rejuvenation.

This mask is also very ideal when used after a microneedling treatment to receive the full advantages of this mask and lock in hydration and support healing.
