Shea Butter and Lavender Body Butter

Indulge your skin with this luxurious, homemade body butter infused with the soothing scent of lavender.

Ingredients

  • 200 grams Shea Butter
  • 50 grams Coconut Oil
  • 30 milliliters Sweet Almond Oil
  • 10 drops Lavender Essential Oil
  • 5 drops Vitamin E Oil
  • Optional: 1 tablespoon of Beeswax for a firmer texture

Preparation Time

Total Time: Approximately 2 hours

  • Melt Ingredients: 15 minutes
  • Cooling Time: 1 hour
  • Whipping Time: 15 minutes

Instructions

  1. Melt the Base Oils: In a double boiler, gently melt the shea butter and coconut oil over low heat until fully liquefied. If using beeswax, add it to the mixture and stir until melted.
  2. Cool the Mixture: Remove the saucepan from heat and allow the mixture to cool slightly, about 5-10 minutes.
  3. Add Additional Oils: Stir in the sweet almond oil, lavender essential oil, and vitamin E oil until well combined.
  4. Refrigerate: Place the mixture in the refrigerator for approximately one hour or until it begins to solidify but is not completely hard.
  5. Whip the Body Butter: Using a hand mixer or stand mixer, whip the semi-solid mixture for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes fluffy and creamy.
  6. Transfer to Container: Spoon the whipped body butter into a clean, airtight jar or container. Ensure the container is sterilized to prolong shelf life.
  7. Store Properly: Keep the body butter in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. For longer shelf life, consider storing it in the refrigerator.
