The Method

Prior to formulating, ensure that all your packaging, equipment and workspace is clean and sanitized. Put on nitrile gloves and cover your hair.

Instructions

01

WATER PHASE : Combine all the ingredients under the Water Phase together. Cover the mixture with foil and set aside to proceed to the next phase

02

OIL PHASE : Combine all the ingredients under the Oil Phase together

03

Take the containers (both the water phase and the oil phase) and heat them gently on the stove using the double boiler method up to 75°C

04

When the oil phase ingredients have melted, remove both containers from the heat, and quickly pour in the contents in the water phase into the oil phase container

05

Using a stick blender, blend the ingredients to emulsify them. Start with short bursts and gradually longer and blend for up to two minutes, as the mixture changes and becomes milky

06

Allow the mixture to cool down while stirring a little. After 5 minutes, give it another blend with the stick blender, scrape the sides to ensure the mixture is evenly blended

07

Allow it to cool down further, while stirring with a spatula in between.

08

When the mixture is below 40C, add in the Cool Down Phase ingredients. Give it one final blend, using the stick blender.

09

Allow the mixture to cool entirely before covering it with a cling wrap. Leave it overnight for it to thicken some more and reach its final viscosity.

10

The next day, decant to your sterilized jars. Label and store 

Usage

Scoop a pea- to coin-sized amount (adjust the amount based on hair length/thickness). Apply on damp hair, after washing. Rub the hair cream between your palms (this helps to distribute the product evenly) and apply all over the hair. Comb or finger through for coverage and detangling. Style as desired
