1% COPPER PEPTIDE
STOCK SOLUTION


Purchasing a Copper Peptide Powder and creating your own concentrated stock solution is a lot more cost effective. You have complete control of the % concentration you want, ranging from 0.1-1%. In this formula we’re using copper peptide powder at 1% that goes a long way, yielding a 100ml solution. With this liquid stock base, you can add it to your peptide inspired formulations at up to 5%.

Materials

Glass Beaker
Stainless Steel Mixing Scoop
pH Testing Strips
Amber Glass Bottle for packaging
Digital Scale

Recommended for sanitizing your workspace:
70% Isopropyl Alcohol
Mist Spray Bottle (to pour the Isopropyl Alcohol in and spray on surface)

The Method

Prior to formulating, ensure that all your packaging, equipment and workspace is clean and sanitized. Put on nitrile gloves and cover your hair.

Instructions

In a beaker, dissolve the Copper Peptide in the Distilled Water by mixing and stirring until it has completely dissolved.

Add in any of the humectants of choice and follow with the Euxyl. Stir to combine the ingredients.

Package the solution in an amber bottle.

Formulating Notes

• Use this solution at 1-5% rate to your formulations

• You may adjust your Copper Peptide Powder % strength ranging from 0.1-1% depending on how effective you want it to be. At a 1% solution, it delivers higher levels of peptide into your formulation. Should you change the formula to use lesser peptide power, make the necessary adjustments to your distilled water

• You can use just one of the humectants on the formulation table, the choice is yours. Dipropylene Glycol is preferred for its skin penetrating and preservation boosting properties

• In your formulations, maintain your final formula between 5.0 and 7.0. Below pH 5.0, the copper ions can dissociate from the tripeptide complex, rendering it inactive

• When formulating, note that peptides are heat-sensitive. Add your copper peptide solution at the cooldown phase at or below 40°C

• Avoid chelating ingredients like Disodium EDTA in the same formula, as they will strip the copper from the peptide

• Also do not combine copper peptides with high concentrations of direct Vitamin C (L-ascorbic acid) or AHAs, which can disrupt the peptide structure.

Safety Note

• Store in opaque or amber bottles for preservation
• Store away from direct sunlight and heat
• Shelf life: approximately 12 months when preserved correctly.
