Lotion Bar Recipe: On-The-Go Moisturizer

All the luxury of bottled lotion, without the bottle.


Whether you're catching a flight or on the road all-day, carrying a bottle of lotion can become quite tedious. This recipe will show you how to keep your skin soft and hydrated no matter where you are.

Phase A - Ingredients

30g Cocoa Butter

22g Jojoba Oil

22g Coconut Oil

2g Red Raspberry Seed Oil

22g Beeswax Pellets

Phase A - Method​


  1. Combine the Cocoa Butter, Jojoba Oil, Coconut Oil, Red Raspberry Seed Oil, and Beeswax in a double boiler or a glass bowl.
  2. Fill a pan with water and heat it up to a light simmer.
  3. Place your double boiler in the water.
  4. Stir occasionally until all the ingredients are melted and combined.

Phase B - Ingredients

Phase B - Method


  1. Remove your double boiler from the water.
  2. Add your Frankincense Oil, Lavender Oil and Geranium Oil.
  3. Stir again and pour into the container of your choice. You can opt for a metal tin for packaging.
  4. Allow your complete lotion bar to set, cool down, and solidify. 

Why Use These Ingredients?

Cocoa Butter: Has a high content of fatty acids, allowing it to deeply moisturize the skin. It also forms a protective barrier that traps moisture in the skin.

Jojoba Oil: Has natural anti-inflammatory properties and antioxidants.

Coconut Oil: Hydrates the skin and smoothens out lines and wrinkles.

Red Raspberry Seed Oil: Acts as a natural sunscreen, protecting against harmful UV rays, and also has anti-aging, anti-inflammatory and nourishing properties.

Beeswax: Is extremely moisturizing and contains natural emulsifiers that trap moisture in the skin. It also assists in soothing skin damage and irritation.

Frankincense Oil: Assists in improving skin tone, combatting skin disease such as eczema and rosacea, and smoothening out wrinkles.

Lavender Oil: Reduces skin discolouration like dark spots, and is also a natural antibacterial.

Geranium Oil: Is a natural antioxidant and anti-inflammatory, allowing it to soothe skin irritation.
