Item | Description |
---|---|
300 grams of Soy Wax Flakes | A natural wax that burns cleanly and evenly. |
10-15 drops of Fragrance Oil (Frais) | Freesia fragrance adds a fresh and floral aroma to your candle. |
5-10 drops of Candle Colourants | Customize your candle with your preferred color(s). |
1 Wick | Ensure the wick is suitable for the size of your container. |
1 Wick Holder | Keeps the wick centered while the wax sets. |
1 Piping Bag | Used to pipe the whipped wax into decorative swirls and peaks. |
1 Glass Container | A transparent, heat-resistant container to showcase your candle. |
Method
- Prepare the Wick: Secure the wick in the center of your glass container using a wick holder or adhesive.
- Melt the Wax: In a double boiler, melt 300 grams of soy wax flakes. Stir occasionally to ensure an even melt.
- Add Fragrance & Colour: Once the wax is melted, remove it from heat and let it cool to about 135°F (57°C). Add 10-15 drops of fragrance oil and 5-10 drops of colorants. Stir well.
- Divide the Wax: Pour enough wax into your container to cover the bottom. Let it harden before moving on to the next step.
- Whip the Remaining Wax: Allow the remaining wax to cool until it thickens but is still pliable. Use an electric hand mixer to whip the wax until creamy.
- Pipe the Candle: Spoon the whipped wax into a piping bag and pipe it on top of the hardened base layer in your container.
- Set the Candle: Let the candle set at room temperature. This can take several hours depending on the temperature of your room.
- Trim the Wick: Once the candle has fully set, trim the wick to 1/4 inch for a controlled burn.
- Enjoy: Your beautifully whipped candle is now ready to light! Enjoy the glow and fragrance.
Tips
- If the wax hardens too quickly while whipping, gently reheat it to soften before continuing.
- Experiment with layering different colors for a visually stunning effect.
- Always test burn your candle to ensure your wick size is correct for your container.
