Ingredients

  • 60 grams Coconut Oil (SPF 4-5)
  • 60 grams Shea Butter
  • 60 grams Zinc Oxide (SPF 20-25)
  • 30 milliliters Avocado Oil (SPF 15)
  • 30 milliliters Carrot Seed Oil (SPF 35-40)
  • 30 milliliters Red Raspberry Seed Oil (SPF 28-50)
  • 15 grams Beeswax Pellets (optional)
  • 10 drops Essential Oil (optional)

Preparation Time

Total Time: Approximately 2 hours

  • Melt Ingredients: 20 minutes
  • Cooling Time: 1 hour
  • Whipping Time: 10 minutes

Instructions

  1. Melt the Base Ingredients: In a double boiler, gently melt the coconut oil, shea butter, and beeswax (if using) over low heat until fully liquefied.
  2. Remove from Heat: Once melted, remove the saucepan from heat and let it cool slightly.
  3. Add Additional Oils: Stir in the avocado oil, carrot seed oil, and red raspberry seed oil until well combined.
  4. Add Zinc Oxide: Carefully mix in the zinc oxide powder. **Important:** Wear a mask to avoid inhaling the powder.
  5. Optional: Add essential oil drops for fragrance, stirring thoroughly.
  6. Cool & Store: Allow the mixture to cool, then transfer it to a clean jar or container. Store in a cool place.
  7. Usage: Apply generously 15 minutes before sun exposure. Reapply every two hours or after swimming or sweating.
  8. Note: Homemade sunscreens may not have accurate SPF levels. Use caution and supplement with other sun protection methods.
